::Spring 2004 Events::
The Center for Research in Computing & the Arts (CRCA)
in conjunctino with XDesign
Labs and Red Maquiladora Network are pleased to present:
Jorge Nava & Timothy Jaeger Firewalls and Borders
Saturday, April 24, 2004
Free Cooperation Conference, SUNY Buffalo
Soundlab, Buffalo, NY 8PM
Firewalls
and Borders is an artistic
intervention/investigation into
the realm of the contemporary
dancefloor. Using video and
audio clips captured in various
parts of the San Diego/Tijuana
border region with VJ software
applications (Max/Msp/Jitter,
VDMX, Motion Dive), this performance
seeks to disrupt the traditional
role of live visuals in a club
setting. "Database cinema"
and "digital ethnography"
are two phrases that encapsulate
the scope of this collaborative
process in creating new media
environments that engage with
traditional club culture.
