Grace Leslie is a PhD student in Computer Music at the University of California, San Diego, and she is currently a researcher for the Acoustique des Salles team at Ircam in Paris.
In 2005 she received her BA and MA degrees in Music, Science and Technology from Stanford University, where she concentrated in contemporary flute performance, music technology research, and composition. At CCRMA she worked with the SoundWire research group, and received a research grant to develop a system for spatialized performer feedback.
Grace is committed to the integration of her research and artistic practice. Her perceptual research at UCSD and Sennheiser resulted in new algorithms for spatializing audio which she has incorporated into her electronic music, and she collaborates with UCSD Psychology Professor Diana Deutsch on the development of new musical illusions. She is also studying the application of game theory to algorithmic music and interactive sound installation design.
