Karlheinz Essl teaches computer music at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, Austria. His piece, "Lexikon-Sonate" is a composition for MIDI-controlled piano which composes itself in realtime using the Max program. It requires MaxPlay or Max to run. This will not be necessary after Max 3.0 is released. It is stored as a self-uncompacting archive and then was binhexed, giving it the .Hqx extension to the filename. More information on the piece is located on the www at: http://www.ping.at/users/essl/works/Lexikon-Sonate.html A 5-minute excerpt of the recording of "Lexikon-Sonate" can be found on his CD "Rudiments" which is being distributed by my publisher TONOS in Darmstadt: TONOS Musikverlags GmbH Ahastr. 9 D-64285 Darmstadt / Germany / Europe Tel: +49-6151-31 23 47 Fax: +49-6151-31 32 78 It is also available from eMUSIC, a new worldwide service that gives you easy, direct-mail access to any and all compact discs of experimental, exceptional, and/or electronic music. eMUSIC brings you CDs that may be hard to find, discs published by small companies or independent composers, even recordings you may not have known existed.
